About the project

In January 2026, the NSW Government announced $17 million in funding to progress planning for the WIN Sports and Entertainment Precinct (WIN Precinct) redevelopment.  

As the existing facilities reach the end of their operational life, upgrades are needed to meet current and future community needs. The redevelopment will modernise the precinct, improve visitor experiences, attract more events and support economic growth across the Illawarra region. 

The project is now progressing through the next stage of planning, design and procurement.  

Infrastructure NSW is leading the WIN Precinct’s design and delivery in partnership with Venues NSW.

The proposal

The proposed WIN Precinct redevelopment includes: 

  • A new, modern WIN Arena.
  • WIN Stadium  
    • A new Northern Grandstand.
    • A new Southern Grandstand including 4 modern changerooms to support the growth of men’s and women’s sport.
    • Upgrades to the Eastern Hill, including improved accessibility, amenities and connections to the foreshore.
    • Retention of the Western Grandstand.
  • Public spaces and foreshore
    • New food and beverage offerings.
    • New beachside retail and commercial precinct with flexible event spaces.
    • Improved foreshore paths and links to the beach and Wollongong CBD.
    • Coastal landscape improvements, including dune restoration.
  • Southern Training Field 
    • Upgraded beach access. 
    • Minor landscaping and path enhancements.
